Sept-Iles is built on the shore of an almost circular bay of 40 km², surrounded by mountains. One of nature’s pure marvels, this “oasis” offers a natural defense to the port of Sept-Iles which can continue its activities all year long. Regional urban centre of foreground, the municipality also allows adventure at sea or in the woods… only two steps away from its doors.
Located at the mouth of the Gulf of the St. Lawrence strategic seaway, Sept-Iles is linked to the Great Lakes, in the hearth of North America and to the Atlantic Ocean which lead to international markets including Asia and Europe.
In constant progression, the municipality has now more than 1,000 dynamic and diversified SMEs. If some exploit the sea products, peat or other resources (wood, steel etc.), some access the North American and World markets with a solid expertise and exclusive process developed here. As an example, we can mention the specialized technology of metallic and ceramic coats, the repair of heavy electro-mechanic components, the design of high performance hydraulic products as well as the repair and maintenance of maritime infrastructures.
